The Monumental Brass Quintet is a group of five musicians, united through a passion for their art, that delivers performances that enfold and engage audiences in rich, emotional, musical experiences. The unique fire and chemistry of this group transcends the predictable and takes the listener on a musical journey.
Each of the five has the requisite talent, dedication, and experience to be a member of one of the premier brass quintets in the country, but in making music together the five become more.
Soaring melodies and complex harmonies together with distinctive texture and brilliant color are blended in precise balance for powerful performances.
Locally, the MBQ has appeared at the KennedyCenter, Smithsonian Institution, Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, Lisner Auditorium, Strathmore Hall, and the embassies of Austria and France. Additionally, the ensemble has appeared on radio and television and has two recordings. Special appearances by the Monumental Brass include the annual Red Mass at St. Matthew’s Cathedral for the Justices of the U.S. Supreme Court and President and Mrs. Bush.
